I take a new, almost new, or vintage lamp shade and strip it down to the bare metal shade frame by taking off any old fabric and fabric lining.  I then add new lining and fabric in glorious prints that transform it into a beautiful work of art using prints, stripes or solid colors such as cottons, linens, satin and more.  My shades are what I call “soft side” meaning that they are covered in fabric and lined in fabric. 

 There are all kinds of beautiful shades such as those that have a hard covering and the fabric is laminated to it or some that are covered in fabric without a lining.   I looked at other ways to build and design lamp shades and decided that this “soft side” style would be the most challenging and best use of my sewing skills.
